Student Art

Hello I'm Ivie Ervin and I am the art teacher here at West Lane Elementary! The art classroom is a fun and colorful setting where students will learn not only HOW to make art but WHY art is created. Art projects are created to help apply what students are learning in other subjects to further their education. Art allows for creativity to show and I am so excited to show your child the wonders that art provides!

Below is some information about what we do in the art room:

West Lane Art Show

Students will select one piece of art that they would like to have in the art show that will be held until after the art show. The art show will be held at West Lane Elementary in the cafeteria. There will be flyers, emails, Facebook posts, and information in the school newsletter detailing when the art show will be taking place.

Artsonia

Please check out our online art gallery at: www.artsonia.com

Type 'West Lane Elementary' in the school search box. This will take you to our school home page. This is a great site where students upload their artwork for their families to look at. If there is an artwork that your child has made you may purchase it as a magnet, shirt, bag, ornament, and on many other items. These make for great gifts! Information about Artsonia signups will be sent at the beginning of the school year. If you have any questions about Artsonia please contact me and I will be happy to help.

Supplies Needed

I try to recycle certain items to use for projects, if you have any of these items at home please send it with your child: plastic bottle caps, styrofoam egg cartons, paper towel rolls, paper bags, thin cardboard squares, newspapers, and whatever you feel would be appropriate to use for future projects. It will be appreciated!
